In this three day workshop, Bette will teach how to work with mild steel and all the steps necessary to create steel and gold jewelry. This includes sourcing, cutting, forming, texturing, patination and finishing. You will learn how to alloy and roll gold in preparation for fusing. You'll have ample time for fusing gold to steel, creating dramatic patterns and accents. In addition, you'll cover Keum Boo which involves burnishing gold foil to hot steel. You'll also cover patinas to produce the signature black color to contrast with the gold, as well as other colors and effects.
During the workshop, you will create at least two pieces - one with fused gold and one with Keum Boo. Your projects may be of your own design or based on examples provided by the instructor.
